Family Host Program
The Kokomo BLUEBLACKS Family Host Program is a community-based initiative designed to support our athletes by providing a safe, welcoming, and stable living environment during the football season. This program reflects our belief that strong community relationships are essential to building a successful and sustainable football organization.
As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization operated by Blueblacks Sports Group, the BLUEBLACKS are committed to athlete well-being both on and off the field. Many of our players relocate from outside the region to pursue their athletic goals, and host families play a vital role in helping them transition smoothly into the community.
Purpose of the Program
The Family Host Program is designed to:
Provide players with a safe and respectful place to live during the season
Reduce financial strain on athletes while they focus on training and competition
Foster meaningful connections between players and the local community
Promote accountability, structure, and positive personal development
Role of Host Families
Host families are asked to provide:
A private bedroom or suitable sleeping space
Access to shared living areas (bathroom, kitchen, laundry)
A supportive and respectful home environment
Host families are not responsible for transportation, meals (unless voluntarily offered), or player supervision beyond normal household expectations. Players are expected to follow team conduct policies and respect household rules at all times.
Player Expectations
All BLUEBLACKS athletes placed through the Family Host Program are required to:
Adhere to team conduct and professionalism standards
Respect household rules, privacy, and property
Maintain cleanliness and personal responsibility
Represent the BLUEBLACKS organization with integrity
Failure to meet these expectations may result in removal from the program.
Screening & Support
To ensure safety and alignment, host families and players participate in a structured placement process coordinated by the BLUEBLACKS front office. The organization maintains open communication throughout the season and remains available to address concerns or questions from host families.
Community Impact
The Family Host Program is more than housing, it is a partnership. By opening their homes, host families directly contribute to athlete development, strengthen community ties, and help build a culture of trust and support within the BLUEBLACKS organization.
THE BENEFITS OF HOSTING
We believe hosting a BLUEBLACKS player will be a very rewarding experience and hope you build a long-lasting relationship with your player and end up playing a role in their pursuit of a career in professional Football. Not to mention, BLUEBLACKS players can be excellent role models for young children and teenagers and are often great company for the summer.
Other perks include:
- Full season ticket for each member of the family living in your household
- Guaranteed giveaway items
- 10% off all BLUEBLACKS merchandise
- On-Field recognition at BLUEBLACKS home game
- An insider's perspective of the BLUEBLACKS team from your player
Family Host Program
Hello,
Thank you for submitting your application to become a Family Host for the Kokomo Blueblacks Football Club!
We truly appreciate your interest in opening your home and supporting a Blueblacks player during our upcoming season. Our Family Host Program is an important part of our commitment to providing our players with a welcoming, stable, and supportive environment while they are in the Kokomo community.
What Happens Next?
Your application has been successfully received and will now move into our review process.
A member of the Kokomo Blueblacks organization will review your application and contact you regarding the next steps, which may include an introductory conversation, reference verification, screening requirements, and a home visit or virtual home review.
Please note that submitting an application does not automatically guarantee approval or placement of a player. Once a family has completed the approval process, our staff will work carefully to match approved host families with players based on compatibility, availability, household accommodations, transportation, and individual needs.
Our primary hosting period is expected to run from approximately March through July.
Thank you again for your willingness to support our players and become part of the Kokomo Blueblacks family. Programs like this are only possible because of community members who are willing to make a difference.
We look forward to speaking with you soon!
Sincerely,
Kokomo Blueblacks Football Club
