KOKOMO BLUEBLACKS MAKE MAJOR INTERNATIONAL SIGNING, ADD NIGERIAN EDGE CHIGOZIE VICTOR

6’7”, 284-Pound Nigerian Prospect Brings NFL Africa Experience and International Upside to Kokomo

KOKOMO, IN — The Kokomo Blueblacks have made one of the biggest signings in the young history of the organization.

The Blueblacks are proud to officially announce the signing of Chigozie Victor, a 6-foot-7, 284-pound EDGE defender from Nigeria who brings elite size, tremendous physical upside, and experience participating in NFL Africa opportunities.

Victor represents exactly the type of athlete the Blueblacks want to bring to Kokomo: talented, hungry, physically gifted, and determined to continue developing toward the highest levels of professional football.

At 6’7” and 284 pounds, Victor immediately brings imposing size to the Blueblacks defensive front. His combination of length, strength, athletic potential, and international football experience gives Kokomo a unique weapon coming off the edge.

But this signing is about more than measurements.

It is about opportunity, development, and building a pathway.

FROM NIGERIA TO KOKOMO

Victor’s football journey has already taken him far beyond the traditional path.

Coming from Nigeria, Victor participated in NFL Africa, an initiative that has helped identify and develop talented athletes from across the continent while providing opportunities for prospects to showcase themselves within the NFL’s growing international talent pipeline.

His journey now continues in Kokomo.

The Blueblacks believe their organization can provide Victor with another important environment to compete, develop, build film, and continue pursuing professional opportunities.

“The International Player Pathway Program provides athletes with a viable route to the NFL and an opportunity to further develop their skills,” said J.R. Robinson, President & CEO of the Kokomo Blueblacks.

“Chigozie is the type of athlete we want associated with the Blueblacks. His size immediately gets your attention, but what excites us even more is his potential and where his journey can ultimately take him. He has already been exposed to NFL Africa, and now our job is to give him an environment where he can continue developing, competing and putting himself in position for his next opportunity.”

AN INTERNATIONAL PATHWAY TO PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALL

The NFL's international development efforts have created opportunities for talented athletes from around the world to pursue professional football.

The International Player Pathway Program (IPP) is designed to identify international talent, develop those athletes, and create opportunities for players to compete for NFL roster positions.

The NFL has also established special roster provisions for qualifying international players. Under the league's current international player rules, NFL clubs can receive additional roster flexibility for eligible international players during the offseason and practice-squad process.

For international prospects, that creates something that historically was extremely difficult to find:

A legitimate pathway.

For Victor, the Blueblacks want Kokomo to become another important chapter in that journey.

MORE THAN A SIGNING

The addition of Victor also represents the larger vision being built inside the Kokomo Blueblacks organization.

The Blueblacks are not limiting their search for talent to Kokomo, Indiana, the Midwest, or even the United States.

The organization intends to identify players wherever talent exists.

Local. Regional. National. International.

If a player has the talent, character, work ethic, and desire to compete, the Blueblacks want Kokomo to become a destination where that athlete can continue building his career.

Victor's signing sends that message loudly.

A prospect who began his journey thousands of miles away in Nigeria and earned an opportunity through NFL Africa will now bring that talent to Kokomo, Indiana.

For the Blueblacks, that is significant.

For the city and Blueblacks fans, it provides an opportunity to watch a legitimate international prospect continue his football journey right here in Kokomo.

WELCOME TO KOKOMO, CHIGOZIE VICTOR

When Chigozie Victor takes the field in a Blueblacks uniform, fans will see more than a 6’7”, 284-pound EDGE defender.

They will see an athlete chasing something bigger.

They will see an international prospect continuing a journey that began in Nigeria, reached NFL Africa, and has now brought him to Kokomo.

And they will see exactly what the Blueblacks intend to become:

An organization willing to search beyond borders, develop serious football talent, and create opportunities for players determined to reach the next level.

The Kokomo Blueblacks are proud to welcome Chigozie Victor to the organization.

Nigeria to Kokomo.

6’7”. 284 pounds. EDGE.

Chigozie Victor is officially a Kokomo Blueblack.
