The Kokomo Blueblacks Football Club is seeking an experienced, highly motivated, and forward-thinking General Manager to lead the football operations of our organization.

The General Manager will serve as the senior executive responsible for building and managing the Blueblacks football operation, including roster construction, player personnel, coaching staff oversight, scouting, football operations strategy, budget management, organizational standards, and long-term competitive planning.

This individual will work directly with ownership and executive leadership to build a professional, disciplined, competitive, and sustainable football program representing the Kokomo community at the highest possible standard.

This is not simply an administrative position. We are looking for a football executive and organizational leader capable of developing an identity, evaluating personnel, making difficult decisions, managing people, and building a championship-caliber culture.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Roster Management & Player Personnel

The General Manager will oversee the construction and management of the Kokomo Blueblacks roster.

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead player recruitment, evaluation, acquisition, retention, and roster development.

  • Identify and recruit high-level free-agent talent.

  • Manage player agreements, commitments, releases, transfers, and other roster transactions.

  • Maintain positional depth charts and identify areas of roster need.

  • Work closely with the Head Coach when determining personnel needs and roster composition.

  • Establish professional standards for player evaluation and selection.

  • Develop short-term and long-term roster-building strategies.

  • Maintain an active database of prospective players and available talent.

  • Ensure all roster decisions comply with applicable league rules and organizational policies.

Coaching Staff Leadership

The General Manager will play a significant role in building and evaluating the Kokomo Blueblacks coaching staff.

Responsibilities include:

  • Participate in the selection, hiring, evaluation, and retention of the Head Coach.

  • Work with the Head Coach and ownership regarding assistant coaching staff appointments.

  • Establish clear performance expectations for the football department.

  • Conduct regular evaluations of coaching and football operations personnel.

  • Address performance or organizational concerns when necessary.

  • Ensure the coaching staff operates within the vision, standards, and culture established by the organization.

Scouting & Talent Evaluation

The General Manager will oversee the organization's player evaluation and scouting process.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and manage amateur, collegiate, professional, and free-agent scouting efforts.

  • Evaluate game film, statistics, athletic performance, character, and positional fit.

  • Coordinate player tryouts, combines, workouts, and evaluations.

  • Develop relationships with college programs, coaches, agents, football personnel, and other industry contacts.

  • Identify overlooked and emerging talent throughout the region and nationally.

  • Utilize traditional scouting methods, film study, statistics, and analytics when making personnel decisions.

  • Create standardized player evaluation procedures for the organization.

Football Operations Strategy

The General Manager will work with ownership and coaching leadership to establish the long-term football strategy of the Kokomo Blueblacks.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop annual football operations plans.

  • Establish roster-building philosophies and organizational standards.

  • Assist in developing training camp, offseason, and preseason strategies.

  • Coordinate with football operations personnel regarding scheduling, travel, equipment, facilities, and player logistics.

  • Evaluate organizational performance and recommend improvements.

  • Create systems and processes that allow the football department to operate efficiently and professionally.

Football Operations Budget

The General Manager will be responsible for helping manage the football operations budget established by ownership.

Responsibilities include:

  • Work within approved organizational financial parameters.

  • Assist ownership with annual football department budget planning.

  • Evaluate financial implications of personnel and operational decisions.

  • Manage resources responsibly while maintaining competitive standards.

  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency without sacrificing player development or organizational quality.

  • Provide ownership with regular updates regarding football-related expenditures and anticipated needs.

Player Development & Professional Advancement

The Kokomo Blueblacks are committed to providing players with opportunities to advance their football careers.

The General Manager will:

  • Help establish individual and organizational player development standards.

  • Identify players capable of advancing to higher levels of professional football.

  • Maintain relationships with professional leagues, teams, scouts, agents, and football personnel.

  • Assist qualified players with exposure opportunities.

  • Ensure accurate player film, statistics, measurements, and evaluation information are maintained.

  • Promote an environment focused on continuous athletic and professional development.

Ownership & Executive Leadership Liaison

The General Manager will serve as a direct connection between football operations and ownership.

Responsibilities include:

  • Report regularly to ownership regarding roster development, coaching performance, football operations, and competitive strategy.

  • Present recommendations regarding major football personnel decisions.

  • Communicate organizational needs, concerns, opportunities, and risks to executive leadership.

  • Carry out the strategic vision established by ownership.

  • Maintain confidentiality regarding organizational, personnel, financial, and competitive matters.

  • Represent the football department professionally during executive meetings and organizational planning.

Organizational Leadership & Culture

The General Manager will be expected to establish and protect the professional culture of the Kokomo Blueblacks.

Responsibilities include:

  • Establish accountability throughout the football department.

  • Promote professionalism, discipline, preparation, respect, and competitive excellence.

  • Hold coaches, players, and football personnel accountable to organizational standards.

  • Develop strong internal communication between ownership, coaches, players, and football operations staff.

  • Address conflicts professionally and decisively.

  • Protect the reputation and integrity of the Kokomo Blueblacks organization.

  • Help create a culture players and coaches want to be part of.

League Compliance & Administration

The General Manager will ensure the football department operates within all applicable league and organizational requirements.

Responsibilities include:

  • Monitor player eligibility and registration requirements.

  • Ensure roster transactions are submitted accurately and on time.

  • Maintain appropriate player and personnel records.

  • Ensure compliance with game-day roster requirements.

  • Coordinate with league football operations representatives when necessary.

  • Stay informed regarding league rules, policies, procedures, and deadlines.

QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate should demonstrate a strong combination of football knowledge, leadership ability, personnel evaluation skills, professionalism, and organizational management.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Previous football operations, coaching, scouting, personnel, or management experience.

  • Strong understanding of roster construction and player evaluation.

  • Experience evaluating football film and identifying talent.

  • Experience managing coaches, players, or football personnel.

  • Strong leadership and decision-making skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication.

  • Strong organizational and administrative skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

  • Ability to make difficult personnel decisions professionally.

  • Understanding of football operations budgeting and resource management.

  • Strong professional network within football is preferred.

  • College, professional, minor league, arena, or other competitive football experience is preferred.

  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, practices, games, tryouts, camps, and organizational events as required.
